Water and Sanitation
No other humanitarian intervention produces a more dramatic effect on life than access to clean water and sanitation. It is foundational to all aspects of development, and often the first work World Vision does in a community. When clean water is scarce, all aspects of life are impacted: health, food production, economics, and education.

Fast Facts:

• Every 21 seconds a child dies from a water-related illness.
• More than 2.7 billion people have inadequate or nonexistent access to proper sanitation.
• When a community gains access to clean water, its child mortality rate drops by half.

MicroFinance
Microfinance is not only a smart investment, with repayment rates of 98 percent, but also an investment that keeps on giving. As loans are repaid with interest, they revolve, helping both the current borrower and those who are waiting to become borrowers.

As a community investor, you can directly support financial services for the enterprising poor. In doing so, you are building on World Vision's prior community development work and helping people take a final step out of poverty.
